LIVE ENTERTAINMENT

TAYOW is a multi-faceted, Brampton-based artist. Inheriting her love for music from her father, the self-taught singer/songwriter and actress is refining her craft through integrity and self-awareness. Her recent project Niveah-EP explores the mental and spiritual journey that occurs when seeking to reconnect with our true self. Released in November 2022, she shares “this project is a combination of my love for R&B, Soul, Hip Hop and Jazz in my own quirky and unorthodox way. I immersed myself in my own fantasy world and co-produced it with my father as production duo Rudepunch and SLWJMZ (Freddie Gibbs, Sean Leon) all throughout 2021”. She is Inspired by vocal and lyrical powerhouses like Nina Simone,  Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Brittany Howard. As well as animated storytellers like Eartha Kitt, Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, and Outkast. Set in a world she calls “Eventually Land”, the project’s storytelling is raw and honest. Taylor explains, “Instead of running away from this journey, I’m looking directly at my own fear, pain and joy. It’s what makes us human”. Her debut EP, Supernova (2019), began this journey as an introspective exploration of self and life—the diasporic Trinidadian continues to use her music as a catalyst to heal, connect, and self-soothe.
