The BCCF Youth Program is Back!
After a few years on hiatus, our programming for BIPOC youth aged 15-29 is back this summer! The Black Creek Community Farm Youth Program cohort will consist of youth from the Jane-Finch neighbourhood who are interested in developing leadership and instruction skills and learning about food justice, cooking and food preparation techniques, and environmental conservation through a train-the-trainer model.
The free program will provide refreshments, transportation costs, an honorarium and a safe food handling certificate.
Art on My Mind 2022
In partnership with the Art Gallery of York University, we are pleased to present Art on My Mind 2022! This free arts program is open to youth aged 15 and up.
The program includes singing and songwriting workshops facilitated by rising R&B singer Kibra, performance workshops with Hip Hop powerhouse Dynesti, and a hands-on opportunity to work on a mural with acclaimed visual artists Curtia Wright and Ray Vidal.
🎆 Live performance facilitated by Dynesti | July 4-20, Mondays & Wednesdays, 1-3 pm
🎤 Songwriting and vocal production with Kibra Tesfaye | July 5-21, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1-3 pm
Participants will: develop stage presence; write meaningful lyrics; hone vocal production skills; receive performance coaching; rehearse and perform with a live band, and learn to take their performance to the next level.
A select number of participants will have a paid opportunity to perform in a live showcase celebrating the Black Creek Community Farm’s 10-year anniversary.
🎨 Mural painting with Curtia Wright & Ray Vidal | July 25 – August 2, weekdays, 1-3 pm
In a series of mural painting workshops led by acclaimed visual artists Curtia & Ray, participants will gain hands-on experience painting a shipping container that will be transformed into a Black Creek Community Farm landmark.
