Community Engagement Trainee

  • The Community Engagement Trainee will help the Programs’ team facilitate educational programming for the community through various projects: Farm Education, Urban Harvest, Fark Park, Youth, Events, Value-Added, and Seniors’ programming
  • You have the opportunity to support with garden maintenance, deliver workshops, develop food skills, land stewardship activities, and plan community events
  • Learn and support the Programs’ team communication, documentation, and community outreach such as canvassing, creating content for our social media, bi-weekly newsletters, and website
  • Gain experience in customer service and building relationship skills with residents, partners, and organizations
  • Attend and participate in regular team and staff meetings

Market Garden Trainee

  • The Market Garden Trainee will gain experience supporting the market garden team in managing food production, garden maintenance, and record-keeping
  • Learn and support with our online and in-person sales, farm store, markets, CSAs, food deliveries, and/or additional sales channels
  • Learn and support the market garden’s communication, documentation, and community outreach such as canvassing, programming, and creating content for our social media, bi-weekly newsletters, and website

Development and Communications Trainee

  • As a Development/Communication Trainee, you will support the Development team to engage, steward, and recognize the various types of supporters of BCCF
  • Learn and gain administrative and communication skills needed to engage with supporters of BCCF, write compelling appeals, work on campaigns, and share BCCF’s mission and impact with a wider audience
  • Learn and gain experience in facilitating workshops and farm tours
  • Support our team with planning, organizing, and coordinating both community and fundraising activities, events, and programs
  • Learn and support with executing our communication, marketing, documentation, and community outreach efforts such as canvassing, flyering, presentations, and creating content for our social media, bi-weekly newsletters, and website
  • Gain experience in customer service and building meaningful relationship skills with residents, volunteers, partners, supports, and organizations

Administrative Trainee

  • The Administrative Assistant Trainee works closely with the Executive Director to support Black Creek Community Farm’s core operations, provide updates, and assist with special assignments
  • You will have the opportunity to shadow the leadership team and depending on your placement days you may have the opportunity to attend community meetings, events, and engagement
  • You will gain experience with performing administrative tasks for the leadership team such as taking meeting minutes/notes, issuing meeting reports, and following up on action items
  • Develop your writing and communication skills by reviewing, preparing, and editing documents, learning how to monitor and respond to emails, answering and managing incoming calls, managing calendars, scheduling meetings and events, organizing documents, presentations, etc
  • Learn to conduct research, gather information, and develop evaluation methods to support executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Market Garden, Programs, and Development team to help plan, create resources, coordinate, and executive projects and program activities.
  • Support the team communication, documentation, and community outreach such as taking photos, collecting testimonials, canvassing, creating content for our social media, bi-weekly newsletters, and website
