Earth Day 2021: Sewing with Delta Family Resource Centre

Earth Day 2021
(9 am – 11 am) Sewing with Delta Family Resource Centre

Presenter
: Bindya Chauhan –  sewing hub lead, Delta Family Resource Centre

Repurposing old items reduces waste going into the landfill – Bindya Chauhan, sewing hub lead from Delta Family Resource Centre demonstrates how to repurpose an old towel & turn it into a beautiful hand towel!

Ontario generates approx. 500,000 tonnes of clothing and textile waste every year and that number is expected to grow rapidly.  Something for us to think about, whenever we buy a new clothing item, it takes 2,650 litres of water to make one shirt; for a new pair of jeans, add 6,800 litres more ~ wrwcanada.com. Before we decide to buy, let us think of purchasing from a local thrift store or repurposing what we already have.
