Hello everyone!
My name is Ethan Yang, and I’m delighted to be joining the Urban Harvest team at BCCF for my placement this semester. I prefer he/him as my pronoun. I am currently in my fourth year studying Health and Society at York University, applying and planning to join a Master’s program in Public Health this September. I’m passionate about the idea of incorporating my studies in health, food, and community into practice at the farm.
I am looking forward to exploring ways food impacts health and life at the farm. I am also excited to learn about sustainable food systems, food security, and nutrition for the BCCF staff and community members. I chose this placement because I am especially excited to gain practical experience in food provision and management, as well as to engage with others in the Black Creek community from the lens of health and food justice.
Outside of school, one of my biggest hobbies is photography. I love capturing moments that tell a story, whether it’s people working together, the beauty of fresh produce, or the daily life of the farm. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone and expanding my knowledge of food and agriculture!
