Black Creek Community Farm – Hermmela Tafesse

Hermmela Tafesse

Hermmela Tafesse is our Farm Education Coordinator. They were formerly a part of Foodshare’s Youth Grown program, growing fresh vegetables, herbs and greens under the name Kassa Harvest. After a few years of working in the art world Hermmela decided that what was important to them was in the soil, the seeds, and the community around food and farming, so they decided to dive into urban farming.

Since then they’ve completed Sundance Harvest’s Growing in the Margins program, founded their own small urban farming business, and began working with farmers around the city on initiatives to further access to quality vegetables for our most vulnerable community members. Hermmela continues to learn, build connections and grow as an urban farmer every day.
