Hi everyone! My name is Kelly, and I’m thrilled to join the team at the Black Creek Community Farm. As someone who’s been deeply involved in urban agriculture and in this very city for many years, I’m incredibly excited to rejoin a space that values sustainability and community.
I was born and spent my early childhood in Ghana before emigrating to Toronto. My roots in the Jane-Finch community run deep; I grew up in this remarkable area, and engaging with the community led me to work at the farm my first time around. Since then, I’ve led workshops on organic gardening for a wide range of communities, helped run farmers markets, administered a city-wide program, and have always been passionate about creating inclusive, green spaces where everyone can thrive.
At BCCF, I’ve stepped into the role of Market Garden Facilitator and will be growing a diverse range of crops and supporting every stage of market garden production—from planting to sales. I’ll also mentor farm trainees, youth, and volunteers in urban agriculture, helping them develop hands-on skills and a deeper connection to food systems. One of the most fulfilling parts of this role is building community through timeless farming practices.
When I’m not getting my hands dirty out in the fields, you can usually find me behind a camera or on a sports field. I’m an avid photographer who loves capturing nature, community life, and candid moments. I also play in both soccer and softball rec leagues, which keep me active and connected.
