Earth Day 2021

Presenter
: Kadra Howsi – Community Engagement Worker, Rexdale Women’s Centre

Be inspired and help change your own neighborhood! Learn how a Rexdale community is being transformed through its small appliance and bike repair program, learn how they turn their kitchen waste into compost and how they are addressing food insecurity through their multicultural garden – one family at a time!

Rexdale Women Centre’s Sharing-Reuse and Learning Centre offers training and workshops that inform, engage and educate residents about the importance of waste reduction. Activities you can participate in at the hub include:

  • Sharing and reuse space
  • Community bicycle hubs – reuse and repair
  • Community garden and composting
  • Reduce-Reuse-Recycle training
  • Urban Harvest – redistribution of surplus food
  • Sewing Repair Hub
